"One of my favorite words and sensations is nostalgia, and my favorite time period in pop culture is definitely the ‘80s. Jonka’s breakthrough album reminded me instantly of this golden time in music, and feels like a soundtrack for a memorable ‘80s movie, circa The Breakfast Club. I was listening to Prince’s song Pop Life this morning and following that, my transition into Jonka’s Slow & Steady was an easy one. The album is heavy on the synthesizer, low on base and boom, and full of thoughtful, sometimes romantic lyrics. The Nana Song is a perfect introduction to the album, with lead singer Jon’s cool rap-like flow and recognizable vocal tone. However, it’s my favorite track, which could be a problem for those with a short attention span. If you still think of Jon Cryer as Duckie, you just may dig Jonka."

"Slow and Steady Wins the Race", the debut album from JONKA is now available on itunes, amazon and cdbaby.

Released on 9/22/09, the album has gained the attention of college radio, podcasts and bloggers around the country and beyond. (we've got listeners in the Netherlands, Germany, Israel, Brazil, Chile, Albania, the Czech Republic, France and the UK.) not bad for a few months into the record release. check us out on www.last.fm/music/jonka

jonka's music has even caught the attention of GE SMITH (former SNL bandleader and legendary guitarist for Bob Dylan and Hall and Oates), who says,

"Jonka is a refreshing blend of 80's pop romanticism, great vocals and right-now beats."

our first music video for our single, "the nana song" is in editing mode and will be ready in the spring!

in february 2009 we'll be performing in Boston with our friends, "i have ears" at Club Bohemia...www.myspace.com/ihaveears and back in Brooklyn at Public Assembly in Williamsburg for a very special Valentine's Day show.

we're busy working on songs for our next up album which will be available in summer/fall 2010.

the next album will be a major step. the music is ridick.
